WEDDING WAVE LENGTH//
It’s easy to miss what your brides looking for and loose her at the wedding trial.
I’ve had times in the past when I’d be pulling my hair out (internally in of course) because I could not, for the life of me, find the hair or makeup look she wanted.
So here’s some tips to make wedding trials run smoother and get a better relationship with your brides. Plus a perfect hair or makeup look.
☑️ Listen to what she actually wants.
Do your consultation properly.
I’m still asking questions whilst I start working.
Its so easy to go off doing your own thing, making her skin look super dewy and gorgeous for pictures - but she wants minimal shine and more Matt/natural.
☑️ What bridal style is she?
Remember, there isn’t really such a thing as ‘Bridal Hair & Makeup’ anymore. Everyone is stepping into their own, with their own vibe. That can be boho, romantic, edgy.. doesn’t even need to be 1, it could be a mix of things.
So have the Artist skills ready.
☑️Communicate.
There’s way too many tales of artists not responding to emails, phone calls… even not showing up or cancelling last minute.
Keep in touch.
And if you are a crap communicator (like me sometimes) tell her to pester you, drop you a reminder if she doesn’t hear back. Text if that’s better.
Women understand you’ve got kids, a busy diary… Running your own business is tough so just be honest and show up.
☑️Upskill
Be ready to create looks with young, old, light weight, dramatic, heavy. You can have several generations or bridesmaids with 6 different makeup styles. Know how to make them ALL happy.
Be calm - Be friendly - Be a PRO ARTIST.
keep them calm.
Work to be ready 30 mins before the chimes or more. Then you’ve time for final checks on hair and makeup
Calm will stop the stress and dreaded sweating.
Remember the days about them. Not you. So minimal sharing of your own life story.
Let them chat so you can get them to the church on time.
Use hair and makeup inspo pictures to make sure you’ve the right look their thinking of and get a vibe.
